PREPARING A SUCCEEDENT ISN'T A PHYSICAL PROCESS

The Minister of Defense Serge Sargsian answered to the question if the scenario of preparing the succedent of the president is used in Armenia: "If it seems to you that preparing a succeedent is a physical process you are wrong. That means when it is said preparation of the succeedent it doesn't mean at all that the Pesident calls anyone and says, go and study English, etc. It is only a matter of selection which always exists in the mind of every president." By the way Serge Sargsian mentioned with a pity that he didn't study English.

LOCAL GAMES

When you ask our officials about decrease in the exchange-value of the Dollar they assume an undisturbed air and assure that everything was normal and natural. And they also are proud of the power and stability of our Dram. As if you put that powerful and stabile Dram into your pocket and go to any European country or to the USA you can change it with the powerful and stabile rate which exists in Armenia. It's obvious that you can't change it, it won't be even considered as a sweet wrapper, isn't it?
Our officials also prove by macroeconomic difficult terms that the U.S. government is guilty in all these and George W. Bush personally who has probably decided to carry out a rate of "weak dollar". The policy of the U.S. government is that indeed. But even when the exchange-value of Dollar displays intentions of rising over Euro or Ruble it decreases in Armenia. Which proves once more that our economy in particular the financial system has no connection with world processes.
And finally pushing aside macroeconomic expressions and look at the real life the simple, everyday facts become obvious. More than the half citizens of Armenia live at the expense of their relatives' money orders from abroad. Their sent 100$ half year ago has become 80$ now as the inflation is 20%. Now either our compatriots must work hard in their Russias and Los-Angeleses or the part of Armenians who get assistance from them will live worse.
And then by what macroeconomic regularity is it explained that the greens were cost 100-150 Drams in the middle of April of the last year but now it costs 250-300. Or how to explain that the traders coming from Turkey who buy their goods with Dollars sell in the Armenian markets not cheaper but more expensive / by the old, expensive rate of the Dollar/.
In short the population of Armenia has suffered from both sides: the incomes have been decreased and the goods and services have risen in price. And the most important, there isn't any trust in the state and its money. And if the officials are right in their explanations, it's all the same, our citizens are sure that the reason of the decrease in value-exchange of the Dollar are the games of local swindlers and not the world macroeconomic regularity.
