THE NEW ELECTED POPE IS AGAINST

The new elected Pope Benedict XV disapproves the membership of Turkey to the European Union. As the foreign mass media inform he has declared that he doesn't consider Turkey as a European country. "Turkey has always been another continent which has opposed to Turkey,"- the new elected leader of the Catholic
church has said.

The U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is a woman with character as it is said. That means if she says something, be sure, she will keep her words. There is a based opinion that she was appointed in the post of the Secretary of State for those "fighting" qualities.
In opinion of a lot of Western observers Rice produces the most intolerant and harsh side of Bush's regime. A thing which we couldn't say about Powel who was more tolerant in the issues of foreign policy. It isn't accidental that the journalists and politicians listen to the marks of Rice and not Bush for understanding the true position of the USA towards developing process in Russia and CIC countries. It isn't for the first time that she has presumed rather sharp expressions to the address of the Kremlin for its political persecution towards "Yucos" company.
And now Condoleezza Rice is in Moscow for preparing the coming visit of the U.S. President George Bush though it is understandable that during Rice's visit to Moscow the whole spectrum of Russian-American relations has been examined thoroughly. Knowing the new Secretary of State well many American congressmen who are dissatisfied from the situation in the RF internal political life hoped that Rice would rise some intolerable questions in Moscow. Such as the perceptible regress of democracy, the absence of free press, withdrawing Russian military forces from Georgia and Moldova, the nuclear collaboration with Iran etc. The Congressmen even hoped that the White House would threaten Moscow with economic punishments and with prospects of removing from the great eight countries. But that didn't happen. And more the "iron" woman declared in Moscow about "excellent" relations between Moscow and Washington and it is understandable. Moscow and Washington need in each other more than ever. Russia needs in the U.S. money and economic support and the U.S.A. need in the useful assistance of Russia in the fight against terrorism as well as in the Asian region. That means that Russia in contrast to some CIC countries still represents something. Rice won't spare the rest of countries.
