THEY
DON'T AFRAID
OF OFFENDING US
George Bush didn't pronounce
the word "Genocide" in his annual report addressed to the Armenian people.
He said literally the following: "On the day of memory we remember the eviction
and mass slaughters of one and half million Armenians in the Osmanic Empire. A
lot of Armenians call these awful events Genocide". So on the one hand the
U.S. President pronounced that expected word but on another hand he pronounced
it in the name of others. That is, just those Armenians call "Genocide"
the events of 1915 but I, George Bush continue to consider it as "eviction
and mass slaughter of million and half Armenians". By the way Bill Clinton
gave the same formulation in time and he, only now as the ex-president put his
signature for calling the events of 1915 as "Genocide". It is obvious
Clinton doesn't have any responsibility any more consequently he is ready to face
Bush with dilemma with great pleasure.
George Bush himself being the U.S. presidential
candidate promised to call the accidents happened to the Armenians at the beginning
of the previous century as "genocide" during his meeting with the Armenian
community in Michigan. But something prevents the American presidents to keep
their promises. Maybe they want to recognize but they still can't. Still. In all
probability the matter isn't that the U.S. doesn't want to recognize the Armenian
Genocide not to offend its strategic ally Turkey. The matter is that the U.S.A.
doesn't afraid of offending Armenia by denying to recognize the Genocide. For
example Bush doesn't worry that Turkey is offended that Kurd separatist won in
the presidential elections in Iraq. It's another question that the recognition
of the Armenian Genocide is out of the U.S. interests in spite of the presence
of influential Armenian community.
But the Armenian community won't run away
from America and the votes given to Kerry by the Armenians didn't prevent Bush
to become the U.S. President for the second time. So if the U.S. Presidents can
allow themselves not to take into consideration the opinion of the voter Armenians
then they aren't interested at all in the official standpoint of Armenia on recognizing
the Genocide. What is then when many European countries have recognized it? America
doesn't recognize. As long as it becomes necessary. But for reaching to it we
must stop being a country that lives by asking for money from the same America.
