“OUR COLLEAUGUES LIKE THE AUTHORITIES”
SADOYAN’S LAST /65 th/ SIGNING | ANTIWARIAN
The police of London arrested the participants of antiwar demonstration on 1 of August. But it allowed all journalists as well as other citizens to shoot those arrests. THE PERIOD ISN’T 'All my life I lived in transition period, - a Slovene complained me some months ago. - The communists were saying that we lived in times of Socialism which turned to the Communism, then Yugoslavia was destroyed the communists went and we were said that we live in transition period in the country which goes to the capitalism. Then it was declared that my country is again in transition period and it is going to become a EU member. And now it was found out that though we are EU member but we aren't “final” member and we must live a certain transition period to reach the EU “old” members. We, the Armenians are called in the West citizens of transition period. But in my opinion they call us in that way “mechanically”. It seems we don't transit anywhere. A stabile period has been established in our country in favor of the authorities, their adherents. And it seems the representatives of the West realize it; 12-13 years ago when there was war and the economic situation was awful the West had more expectations from us than today. Today those expectations have turned to political contempt. Because the transition period looks like a closed chain. Certainly it's a matter of philosophy, what is better, to live waiting for a bright future or to enjoy what already exists. The only thing, which we can demand from the authorities, is the sincerity. They must say; “Dear people, dear West, we don’t transit anywhere anymore. We remain between the Middle Asia and Georgia.” Believe that it will be easy to live both for the people and the West. |
