TURKEY AS THE "OSCE OBSERVER"

Though the U.S. president has already congratulated the winners in the presidential elections in Iraq but it was found out that not everybody was satisfied with the results of parliamentary elections published yesterday. And more the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey declared yesterday that it doubted that the transitional parliament of Iraq produced various strata of society. Ankara called to the electoral commission of Iraq to discuss some facts in connection with the elections. Certainly if the Shiahs got the majority of votes in the elections boycotted by Sunnis Turkey wouldn't perform the role of "OSCE observatory mission" as a fighter for free and fair elections. But the elections in Iraq were much freer and fairer than in other countries with more stabile political situation, which is clear: nobody would go to the elections for pre-electoral bribe risking their lives. But the Iraqi electors taking part in the elections risked their lives: it is known that some dozens of people became the victims of terrorism that day. According to the published results the bloc sponsored by Shiah Sistani will get 140 mandates from 275. Ant the bloc of Kurdish main parties is in the second place getting the 25,7% of votes. This will allow them to have 75 deputies. Sistani's bloc will have to take into consideration just with them in candidacy of the President and Prime Minister. It isn't even excluded that the Iraqi president will be a Kurdish. That's why Turkey is so worried.
But the "gun" is in American's hand and the U.S.A. will hardly direct it to the electoral commission of Iraq demanding to check the illegality of Kurdish votes for only the reason that Turkey fears the increasing of the Kurd's role in Iraq may cause a secession movement in the South-East of Turkey. America can delay recognizing the Armenian Genocide but in Iraq's case it won't do, as Turkey wants. As the USA won't loose Armenia not recognizing the Genocide but in case of Iraq it may.
