ARMENIA IGNORES THE COMMISSION OF VENICE

The commission of Venice has always stressed the necessity of the electing way of Yerevan mayor's post in connection of constitutional amendments. But the Minister of Coordination of Territorial Administration and Infrastracture Operations Hovik Abrahamian visiting the Council of Europe on 14-15 February and meeting the deputy of the CoE Secretary General and the members of "Ago" group proposed an intermediate solution. To keep the appointed way of the mayor's post but at the same time to form a serious counterbalance such as Yerevan's grandee, which will be authorized to determine the budget and control it as well as to express distrust
to the mayor of Yerevan.

WE ARE STILL AN OUTPOST

The RF Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov arrived in Yerevan with the official visit yesterday evening. Certainly the Armenians will meet Mr. Lavrov with the highest level and will assure him that Armenia is the eternal strategic ally of Russia and etc. The most intensive work waits for Lavrov in Georgia after that pleasant feast. The Foreign Minister of Georgia Salome Zourabishvili affirmed officially about Lavrov's working visit instead of official. The reason of such a demarche is that Lavrov refused to put flowers on the monument of the perished people for Georgian unity were the names of thousands Georgian soldiers who died during Abkhazian and South Osetian conflicts were carved. According to the Georgian order putting flowers on this monument is obligatory for official visits. The Georgians were offended by Lavrov's refusal.
Before visiting to Georgia Lavrov was rather militant: " It seems to us that the Georgia isn't ready for progress and in some case it even regresses,"- he declared stressing the tree rounds of Russian-Georgian negotiations that took place on Saturday which gave no result to any negotiating part. "But we suppose this visit will find out the situation,"- Lavrov said promising to make any effort and achieve to the progress in withdrawing Russian military forces and forming a center of anti-terrorism.
And now the story of these flowers. Armenians for example weren't offended. We were called the outpost of Russia and it pleased us until Aliev said he thought that Armenia was an independent country. And if Lavrov didn't want to visit Tsitsernakaberd /the monument of the victims of Armenian Genocide/ be sure, we won't be offended as we dare not. Only independent countries can dare to behave themselves with dignity. Georgia, for example. And Armenia is still an outpost indeed.
