WILL THEY DESTROY?

The President Robert Kocharian declared during consultation in the city administration yesterday: " The illegal constructions in the center of the city must be destroyed by bulldozer not considering who is the owner." "Aravot" has repeatedly mentioned that the cafes round Opera House are illegal constructions: provisions are done by infringements, smaller territories are mentioned in the documents than it is in reality. Perhaps is it worth to begin with those constructions?

LET'S RESPECT OURSELVES FIRST

One of the subjects of "The Human and the Law" TV program on ORT TV Company was devoted to our compatriot it seemed Gevorkian by surname who is in the prison now. That person being the chief of Police of Budenovsk city has laid under contribution the whole city and its suburbs and has lived in grand style with villas, expensive cars and rest in abroad… This is a usual history for the CIC whole countries. But it is very unpleasant and offends our nation. It was more unpleasant and offensive when it was published that the NA deputy Hakob Hakobian /known by nickname Choit/, his son and friend had been arrested in Dubai for stealing cloths from one of the shops. Certainly, Mr. Hakobian being a smart person will give "something" and will go out from the prison. But the unpleasant trace will remain.
On the other hand why it mustn't be so. Why mustn't our citizens who have left for abroad to work or have a rest behave them as they do in their country? Shouldn't the chiefs of the Armenian Police lay under contribution the businessmen work in their "territories"? Shouldn't our officials of high rank who live officially by their low salary build villas, buy expensive cars and have a rest in foreign countries like our compatriot of Budenovsk. Only the latter robbed Russians but these officials rob Armenians. But we aren't ashamed when we are robbed and abased by our compatriots in our country. The same may be said in case of the Armenian deputy who was caught stealing. We must be ashamed when we allowed the appearance of half-criminal authorities with their nicknames in the highest legislative organs. H. Hakobian hasn't stolen the mandate of deputy he has received it legally. And those who sold their votes in front of bribes helped him in it or elected him freely and rightly considering him the true elected representative of the people. At any case this fact doesn't describe our voters in the best way. And what refers to the deputy the legislator's mandate isn't considered the guarantee that its owner will behave him differently than he used to do in his conscious life. Certainly it is too bad that the respect towards our nation decreases. But First of all we must learn to respect ourselves and then expect the respect from others.
