IF THEY WANT, THEY RECOGNIZE

The principle of "the right of nations' self-determination" can't be used in case of Karabakh. According to "Arminfo" the PACE reporter on Nagorno-Karabakh issue David Atkinson declared in the interview to BBC. According to him the CoE accepted Azerbaijan's territorial integrity when that country included to that organization. If the Government of Azerbaijan agreed with Karabakh's demand and give independence to it we would also accept it, Atkinson has mentioned. "But it is obvious the Azerbaijani authorities will never agreed with the Karabakh demands of independence. The council of Europe as well as other international organizations can't recognize Nagorno-Karabakh's independence,"- David Atkinson has mentioned. That is interesting the Government of Yugoslavia had accepted to give independence to Slovenia, Khorvatia and Bosnia.

WE MUST ADVANCE

Today we celebrate the day of the Armenian National army: exactly 13 years ago on 28 January 1992 the first president of Armenia signed the declaration on Formation of National Army. And we indeed can be proud because our nation and state managed to form an effective army and defend the Armenia land in spite of economical difficulties during the whole period.
But there is an interesting fact: it is turned out that a lot of people have nominated their candidacy for leaving for Iraq in the staff of the Armenian contingent. It seems they mustn't aspire to leave for a foreign country and take part in others war. But the answer is obvious: every Armenian soldier will get 1000 $ salary every month. It is a whole fortune for our military servers in favor of which they may threaten their own lives. If we also were able to pay such kind of salary all problems inside our army would be solved. And the youth wouldn't consider the institutes of higher education and post-graduate study as the way of avoiding of the army. And the corruption would be disappeared in IHE and military departments. And the constantly quarrels of our parliamentarians on calling to the army would become meaningless. That's true keeping a professional army by contract principle is most ideal way for every country. But we must be economically able first of all. Unfortunately even more wealthy countries than Armenia is don't use this practice. So it is still dream for us keeping the army on contract principle. In addition to it the martial declarations of Azerbaijan make that problem unreal.
But it won't be right to be satisfied with the current situation and consider the problems of our issues as objective and unavoidable reality. Yes, we can't afford to have a professional army but we can help to interpret the army as the place of realizing patriotic feelings. And what is the most important the reason of unwillingness of our youth not to serve in the army is the lack of patriotism. But before expecting patriotism from the common citizens it would be more laudable for the representatives of the authority to show the example of patriotism themselves not releasing their sons from the army.
