THEY RESPECTED THE STUDENTS BUT DIDN'T RESPECT THE OMBUDSMAN

Several scores of Armenian students from Georgia organized an action of protest in front of the Embassy of Georgia. The students were demanding to provide the security of their relatives who lived in Georgia. The incident, which happened in the region of Tsalka, was the reason of the protest on 25 of June when special guardians opened fire to the direction of two Armenian young men and one of them was wounded. Two participants of the action met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia Revaz Gachechladze who hopped that such incidents wouldn't happen any more and the guilty persons would be punished. Two representatives from the Office of the Human Rights Protector wanted to get elucidations but they weren't allowed to enter the Embassy.

BY WHICH MUST
THE OPPOSITION LIVE?

The President of Byelorussia Alexander Lukashenko has found the way of preventing revolution. Parties must be closed after a hint about assistance from abroad. The parliament of Byelorussia took that decision by the second reading. And how must the political parties find money? The Parliamentarians who has taken that decision suggest the parties to have their own business. But it isn't known how it will happen as the parties are forbidden to be engaged in business. It is allowed only the publishing work and selling souvenirs. It is surprising that Lukashenko hasn't guessed to take such a decision before.
Such a law is valid in Armenia for a long time and even it was used towards the ARF punishing it by stopping its activities. Hnchaks and Ramkavars which also had assistance from abroad but weren't dangerous for the authority so they weren't deprived of sources from abroad. And now it seems they have forgotten about the existence of that law. At any case it seems nobody is interested from what foreign sources the parties exist. And there is no doubt that those sources exist and supply the opposition in particularly. And how to behave when the pro-authority parties are exclusively financed.
So our parties are faced with the dilemma: either to find other sources of income for them / including from abroad/ or to die a natural death. It's another problem that our authorities in contrast with Lukashenko don't intend to use that law against the opposition; they beware of the European structures. So you have to close your eyes on the fact that the main financial sources of our parties opposing to the law come from abroad. But the "patience" of the authorities is limited. As our opposition is weak and isn't of interest nobody will disturb it. But if the opposition becomes strong and if anybody wants to send serious sums of money to the opposition of Armenia for realizing revolution in the country our authorities will remember that law.
So we advise to the opposition; you must learn to find financial sources in the own country. If the oligarchs don't give you must be concentrated on souvenirs, we are sure Artashes Geghamian's or Aram Karapetian's authority works will be in popular demand.
