WHAT DOES THE GHOST OF HAMLET'S FATHER EXPECT?

Interview with the leader of Republic party Aram Sargsian

- Mr. Sargsian why the congress of the party is being delayed. Does the inner political discrepancy still continue?
-There isn't any inner partial problem for which I'm very glad. The congress is being delayed mostly for technical reasons. First the RF President is leaving for Armenia in that period when we were going to hold the meeting. Second the city soviet of the party has decided to organize the meeting with large scale and the whole administration will take place in local conferences. I consider conferences very important and they like mini congresses.
- Doesn't the existance of "Test of soul" disturb your party?
- The formation of "The Test of Soul" didn't influence either on political field or "republic" party.
- Will the "Republic" party take place in the elections of Local self-government?
- I think that some processes are possible in the RA till October that the "Republic" party can't help to participate in those elections.
- Do you again say a date?
- The matter isn't the date. The matter is that I'm optimist. Times are changeable and every day in our country brings some changes and nowadays speaking about October is too early. I don't exclude those changes.
- Please mark the opposition field, thoughts and expectations of Armenia.
- Not only the opposition but the whole political field and the authorities too are in visceral hurricane. It has its appearance both in the NA and during the visits of the President where he tries in vain to produce an impression that there isn't any problem both in case of Karabakh and in economy and not in inner political. All these show that problems exist in reality. If there is no problem R. Kocharian go skiing or to Sevan for swimming. In case of problems he organizes visits and only in case of problems officials from the leadership of CIC countries arrive Armenia and say that this isn't Georgia or Ukraine. But the opposition party is always ready for changes. Unlike the authorities the opposition party is preparing to those changes very seriously. And the end of the opposition's activities must be known before their activities. Various mass media try to interpret this as the inactivity. But in reality the opposition is very active nowadays.
- When you speak about the opposition do you mean the "Justice" bloc or Artashes Geghamian, a new formation or everything together?
- When I say opposition I mean the 99% of the RA population.
- It is obvious that inside the authority the changeover of political powers is being prepared. What do you think why the authorities do such preparations before 2008.
- The authority parties and persons prove by their activities that they are preparing for the special elections. Otherwise there is no sense to begin the electoral campaign so early. And if they are preparing for special elections that means they know something much more. Consequently there are problems both in the economical field and in Karabakh conflict and in foreign policy and in democratic issues.
- What do you think who will become the candidate of the authority, to whom Robert Kocharian will give the authority; to Serge Sargsian, Arthur Baghdasarian, Andranik Margarian or others?
- Friendly speaking I'm not interested who will succeed Kocharian. I'm sure that a person elected by people will become the president. And I'll do my best to realize it.
- I have heard that you study English; does this mean you may be called as pro-Western politician?
- I study English to read Shakespeare's "Hamlet" in its origin for understanding what does the ghost of Hamlet's father ask for; to revenge or to obtain justice in the country?
- Why is it so important for you?
- I have always considered that the wisdom is more important than the ignorance.
- So do you wish to become wise?
- You also wish. I know a lot of people who don't wish to be wise and unfortunately those people are ruling now.
