THE DOOR OF THE REFORMATORY

This is the door of the Yerevan investigation isolation ward where the famous poet Eghishe Charents spent his last days of life. When the isolation was destroyed in 1972 and the hospital was replaced to Nubarashen one of the medical assistants Gegham Haroutiunian informing about Charent's isolation ward pulled out its door and hide in his cottage in Kharberd for about 30 years.

WE HAVEN'T RIPEN YET

As it is known "Gelup International" center which is engaged in sociological researches intending to know the attitudes of the Armenians, Georgians and Azerbaijanis towards the rulers of different countries held a sociological polling in the three countries of South Caucasus. As the result the researches have found out that 87% trust in Vladimir Putin, 40% trust in the President of Byelorussia Lukashenko, 32% trust in Bush and only 63% of the Armenians trust in their own President. By the way, as it was found out the Azerbaijanis and Georgians also trust in their Presidents. 77% of Azerbaijanis trust in Ilham Aliev, 72% of Georgians trust in Michael Sahakashvili.
Let's try to understand how the President of Armenia with his reputation is between the famous Putin and the Byelorussian despot Lukashenko who is trusted more than George Bush who propagandize democratic values. Perhaps we can consider that democrats aren't so respected in our country. Putin, Kocharian and Lukashenko are rulers of authoritarian style. But it is obvious that the Armenians prefer "the strong fist" which can establish order in the country, consequently we are less interested in the democratic views of the country rulers than the ability to provide its citizens for a prosperous life. The Armenians also sympathize Putin for that the standards of living is higher in Russia than in our country as if there are laws there that the oligarchs are arrested etc…
In reality Kocharian's 63% is also a high index. And the Gelap's Institute is a serious and reliable organization which researches are true indeed. The Byielorussians bear their "batka" Lukashenko as they don't live bad and are provided for jobs. But to live in the way as the Europeans do- free and with prosperous life- the peoples of those countries perhaps don't want. Perhaps we haven't ripened yet.
