HE HAS TO BECOME OMBUDSMAN

The sitting of the council of the coalition took place in the parliament yesterday where issues on the NA spring session and candidacy of ombudsman were discussed. The rector of the RA Governing Academy Armen Haroutiunian also took part in the sitting whose candidacy the coalition will nominate. Mr. Haroutiunian who has denied for many times the news about becoming the RA defender of human rights wasn't against his candidacy in the sitting yesterday.

EUROPEAN STENCILS

The PACE adopted resolution about condemning the communistic despotic regimes is a demonstration of European right but rather schematic way of thinking. The Europeans have a formulated stencil for every manifestation and when they must remark any of them they take that stencil from their pockets and look at it- if it correspondents or doesn't. One of the latest examples was the attitude towards the project of our constitutional amendments. They took the text, they saw that things are written there which correspondent to the stencil and they approved it. And it is secondary for them how that text will be achieved.
Or another example. According to Europeans all military men who committed crime against peaceful inhabitants in Yugoslavia during military actions must be punished. The leaders of new indepented states of that region were trying to prevent it. For example the conservative Prime Minister of Chorvatia Ivo Sanader swore in 2001 not to punish those Chorvatian military men whom the tribune of Hague threatens. But the Europeans have a serious level here; to make or not make the country as the EU member. And that same Sanader ordered the Public Prosecutor to "find more actively" those same persons. The general Ante Gotovita was arrested in the 4 stars hotel in Canary Islands on 7 of December 2005 as a result.
This European atmosphere is right in general; keeping the rules of the game makes your life easy. And it is profitable for us, too. Every polite European knows that the government of young Turks committed crimes towards humanity during the First World War, which must be condemned.
The communistic regime also has committed awful crimes, annihilating millions of innocent persons. But the majority of people who live in the former Soviet countries will hardly be able to condemn in a word all what the communists have done; positive and negative were close to each other in our passed life. As it is everywhere.
