AFTER A BREAK

The sociology took a break after the presidential elections held in February 19; when thousands of people protest against the rigged elections, the sociologists “keep silence”, it seems there is no need to measure anything. In particular when famous sociological companies predicted everything in wring way. According to their indexes Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s rating was lower filling the 4th or 5th place. And only APR Group’s indexes gave the First President the second place. So we may suppose that the poll results of that company are trustful.

The same sociological company made phone polling among 663 citizens of Yerevan by “Aravot’s” order. As usual we would like to remind that we simply record the polling results and all those who are satisfied or dissatisfied with those results may contact with the following number 091 300 748.

In answer to the question “what expectations do you have from the new-formed government?” 43, 59% of the polled citizens are sure that nothing will be changed. The optimists who think that “everything will be improved” are 41, 63%. 13, 73% thinks that everything will become worsen, and 1, 06% didn’t give any answer.

The next question allowed the citizens to choose their preferred answer among three versions. The question is the following: “Which are the steps that the government should take in first?” 42, 08% think that the rise in price should be stopped, 37, 1% wants to open new employments, 28% is for solution of social problems. Only 3, 32% of the pooled citizens want to detect March 1 events, 3, 77% prefer NK conflict settlement.

The answers regarding the ministers are very interesting. The majority of the polled citizens think that David Lokyan is the most professional among the ministers (8, 3%); the second is Harutyun Kushkyan (6, 64%). The rest have less rating.

HAMMARBERG’S PROPOSALS ARE ALMOST IGNORED

Only one proposal from CE Human Rights Commisioner’s 8 proposals was implemented; it was about stopping the emergency of state.

We have informed that  Commissioner of Human Rights Tommas Hammarber represented  to the CE Committee of Ministers on April 30 the report of his special mission. This report  became famous in Armneia only a month ago.

Tommas Hammarberg’s first proposal is to “withdraw the state of emergency to restore the democratic order in the country and respect towards human rights.” The state of emergency is de jure withdrawn on March 21 but it is still on de facto. One of the proof of this statement is the fact that the opposition representatives are not allowed to participate even in the concerts which are held in the Freedom Square.

CE Human Rights Commissioner’s second  proposal is: “To confirm the changes in the legislation regarding the freedom of expression and mass meetings which will correspond to the commissions of
