However unpleasant it is for ARF members or other nationalist, there are a lot of general characters between the authorities of Armenia and Turkey. It refers to the amendments of legislation which should correspond the laws of that country with the European standards. There is an article in the Criminal Code of Turkey, 301, which determines punishment to those who offend that nation’s identity. In particular, any notification about 1915, about the historical past of the country deeply offends that nation’s identity. The Europeans don’t like that article and they were asking Turkish authorities to change it. Finally the parliament of Turkey made amendments in that law, formally changed several words and reported to the Europe that the way to democracy is finally open.

Our authorities act the same way. The Council of Europe asks them to make amendments in the law which bans holding mass meetings and processions. Our authorities try to delay time, but finally they will make several cosmetic amendments keeping the right of Municipality to ban unpleasant meetings. The Europeans say, change the way of NCTR (National Commission of Television and Radio) formation, our authorities pretend as if they do not understand but in reality they understand very well that the political authority should allocate frequencies.
