EDITOR'S COLUMN
TRADITIONAL ACCUSATION

When the opposition actively participates in the political struggle, the authority accuses it of making collusion with the foreign countries. Perhaps a lot of people have forgotten that the authorities in 1996 (nowadays opposition) were accusing NDU (the opposition in 1996) of the same collusion. Vazgen Manukyan’s adherents were being sponsored by western different funds, according to the official version to destabilize the situation in Armenia, weaken our position in the NK conflict. And the American NDI (National Democratic Institute) was considered as one of the centers of the Armenian destabilization.

It is impossible to say like in many other cases that it is an Armenian way of action: alluding the foreign enemies to punish the internal ones is as old action as the policy itself. Our Russian friends’ experience is enough for an example. Making a speech during the last meeting of pro- authority forces of Russia before the State Duma elections, RF President Putin said the following about the opposition: “They act in front of U.S. Embassy like jackals” which we may understand in two ways; they either beg money or complain about their authority to the foreigners.

Now our authority, in the person of ARF leader Hrant Margaryan, has found something like “judaic-massonic” conspiracy, which the opposition led by Levon Ter-Petrosyan achieves and is ordered by Freedom House and NDI. This means that Armenia was about to become a democratic, prosperous country and settle the NK conflict but several “centers” didn’t like it and they found Levon, paid him and tried to prevent the achievements of our country.

The practice of finding  external enemies instead of solving the internal problems is very common in the history of all over the world. But perhaps it is a “local specific” when a party leader speaks about external leadership whose leaders are mostly out of Armenia and are not the citizens of Armenia.
