It is more than two months that editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper Nikol Pashinyan's and NA Parliamentarian Khachatur Sukiasyan's photos are posted in the metro stations among different unshaved criminals and recidivists. As if to inform people that these people are wanted the law enforcement agencies and in case of seeing them, people should inform the police. It is very foolish: those photos have a meaning when the wanted persons are not known to the public and the people should recognize them with the help of those photos. There is no need in this case. Certainly our policemen understand it but the aim of the authorities to propagandize against these politicians in this way too, besides to offend their dignity.
In reality this kind of propagandizing trick is offensive for all citizens. People may share or not Nikol's political views like or dislike his journalistic style. But thousands of people buy his newspaper everyday and putting his photo among criminals' photos means t ignore the opinion of those readers.
It is much more inadmissible to have such an attitude towards Khachatur Sukiasyan. The companies which belong to his family are still among the big tax payers. And everybody should take it into account. The government says almost every day "to bring everybody into the equal political field", "to have equal rights". But the authorities' persecution aims quite a different thing: "have good relations with us, praise us and do not pay taxes". These actions also cast doubt the authorities' promises about the budget.
There is another important circumstance connected with Mr. Sukiasyan. Putting his photo among wanted criminals, the authorities prove once more that the parliament and the mandate of the parliamentarian cost nothing. The only state body the citizens should respect is the police truncheons.
… I would like to know whether Robert Kocharyan's photo will also be posted there if he is accused of using violence against the peaceful demonstrators. |
