FICTIVE POSITIONS

The Parliament of Armenia is not one of our authorized state structures, and perhaps nobody will argue with this. The reasons are numerous. One of them is the dualism of the NA functions. On the one hand the parliament should draft the legislation of the country; people who have deep knowledge in legislation can do that. On the other hand theoretically it is right that that the NA is a political body and the parties voted by the people should have debates there.
There is no need to note once more that the Parliament of Armenia is far from that dualism. The National Assembly hasn't drafted any legislation since 1995; it simply confirms the texts sent by the executive body. Besides the current parliamentary forces have no ideology and can't debate round any ideological problem. And finally this National Assembly is too far from the people since the opposition has very symbolic presence there.
And to say that increasing the number of NA standing committees will raise the NA effectiveness, means to fool the whole Armenian population. Fictive assignments in the fictive Parliament are like a game at the expense of tax payers since the payment for new offices, secretaries, and drivers will be allocated from the state budget.
Practically there are not so many lawmakers in our parliament who are cable to work in 12 standing committees so their activities will be equal to nothing.

A WARNING HUNGER STRIKE

Petros Makeyan's Shota Saghatelyan's and Ashot Zakaryan's trial which becomes a farce, were continued yesterday in Shirak region. The trial was postponed yesterday but 50 citizens of Gyumri and political prisoner Ashot Zakaryan himself went on a warning hunger strike just in the hall of the court.

Hunger strike in Erablur

" Set the political prisoners free and commit the PACE 1609 resolution completely" - these are those demands which 9 warriors who have gone on a hunger strike in Erablur from this morning presented to the RA authorities. "We think that the arrested persons are kept in the prison illegally for their political views. We want our civil rights to be restored and respected, to be allowed to hold peaceful mass meetings", - Artak Ayvazyan said during the interview with Artak Ayvazyan. To our observation that the authorities don't worry about that extreme ways of struggle since there were persons who went on hunger strike but there was no attention from the authorities, our interlocutor said: "We should continue the struggle however indifferent they are. They can't persist so long and they will have to take us into account.'

The witness who suffers from sclerosis

The administrative of Shirak region continued examining the suit against head of "Asaparez" club of journalists Levon Barseghyan who is accusing of not obeying the policemen and calling to hold a mass meeting in the Theatric square of Gyumri. Head of veterans' union Samvel Hovsepyan was elected as a witness who was avoiding of answers when he did not like them arguing as if he suffered from sclerosis.
