MISLEADING

We get an impression from the interpretation of the authority representatives that our leaders, do not understand the current public moods, and that misleading is sincere, it is not formal. First of all they are sure that people’s riot depends on Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s person. The Judas and masons managed to conduct some kind of séances in the result of which the natural life of the country was destroyed. The authorities try to find solutions for their wrong suppositions; they keep dozens of innocent people in the prisons, commit blackmails towards the oppositionists making them recognize the results of the elections and agree to dialogue. That way was a deadlock not only for the reason that the First President will not yield any pressure. It is more essential if that strategy works; it will not relieve the situation.

If we suppose that Levon Ter-Petrosyan recognizes the current president’s legitimacy and starts a dialogue with him, can this calm the people’s anger? Perhaps just the opposite, people will blaze of anger, and they will have two targets of complaint instead of one.

The second wrong supposition of the authority is that the roots of those dissatisfactions are social. (The Soviet stereotype of social problems works here which is the synonym of food). “A group of oppositionists manipulate the people’s temporary difficulties”.  But those explanations are very simple. Well-doing people are also dissatisfied that they have to give bribes to every official, that they are neglected by them, that crimes are not detected and the criminals are not punished and finally they will which they express during balloting is cynically ignored.

In general people want neither Serge nor Levon, the want a normal, dignified life and that demand is not limited by material needs. The authority should simply grow to deeply understand that demand.

“INTERRUPTED REVOLUTION”

Karapet Rubinyan described the internal political situation in these words yesterday.

One of the guests of the National Press Club, representative of Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s pre-electoral headquarters, former NA vice chairman Karapet Rubinyan named the post-electoral situation as a “velvet revolution” without any external assistance, sponsorship and colors. As a proof Mr. Rubinyan alluded to the international standpoint on Armenian presidential elections. Mr. Rubinyan finds three ways for the solution from the current situation: commitment of the PACE demands, attempt of cheating the European structures or forget Europe, increase the pressures inside the country and develop the revolutionary situation. “What should people do? What can they negotiate about?” the answers to these questions are the following:  “To come to agreement regarding the terms of holding special parliamentary and presidential elections, to create guarantees  for free and independent elections, to form the CEC by 50-50 principle., the CEC chairman should not be local, elections should be held only by proportional list, , the first deputies of the RA Public Prosecutor,  chief of Police, NSS chief, Defense Minister, NCTR president should be assigned by the opposition. “A1+” and ...
